Eastern Moors Bridleways

The network of bridleways around the Sheffield Moors provides fantastic access for everyone who wants to come and experience this incredible landscape.

Many of the tracks on the moorland that we can ride today were put in by the Duke of Rutland in the early 1800s for his own private enjoyment. Back then access to the land was very much by invitation only, however today everyone can enjoy access to these moors via these tracks.

Since 2011 when the National Trust and RSPB took over the management of the Eastern Moors, the Eastern Moors Partnership has worked with the recreation community to open up a network of concessionary bridleways. The new bridleways on Big Moor, Totley Moss, Ramsley Moor and Burbage Moor sit within the existing network of public bridleways and byways and give mountain bikers and horse riders increased access the moors we all know and love.

Keep an eye out for the bridleway gates and waymarkers and please take note of our Please Dismount signs, which help keep our paths safe for everyone.
