Explore the Moor

The tranquil wilderness of the Eastern Moors has drawn people to explore here for generations. From open bogs to historic woodlands, the Eastern Moors offers a variety of landscapes to sink your teeth in to. You’ll encounter wildlife from red deer to rare native ground nesting birds such as golden plover and curlew, while passing by archaeological and historical sites from the Bronze age to the Second World War.

Guided walks

Join our wardens for one of many guided walks throughout the year, revealing to you the inner workings of the Eastern Moors from Bronze Age settlements to red deer in the rut. 

Self-led trails

With a selection of downloadable walks to chose from in a variety of locations, from short strolls to full days out, there is something for everyone looking to explore the Eastern Moors - including Adventure Trails for young explorers!

With the help of volunteers, Curbar Primary School pupils and the Heritage Lottery Fund, we have created nine walking trails to help you discover the Eastern Moors, and three fabulous Adventure Trails for young explorers and those young at heart!
