The Eastern Moors are exceptionally rich in archaeological features ranging from prehistoric to more modern remains. Our archaeology monitors assist the wardens by monitoring these features to ensure they remain in an excellent condition for the future. Minimum commitment once a year in autumn/winter.
Ecological Monitoring Volunteer
Accepting enquiries - opportunities arise seasonally
The Eastern Moors is an amazing place for wildlife. In order for us to fully understand the habitats and species the Eastern Moors supports, it is essential for us to monitor them and keep a record. This is achieved through a programme of detailed monitoring projects ranging from upland bird surveys, vegetation surveys and water vole surveys. Commitment is seasonal and dependant on survey.
The Eastern Moors is a fantastic site which is easily accessible to people from the surrounding area who use the land for many different reasons. We need patrol rangers to support our team by walking the paths on a regular basis and reporting back on the condition of the infrastructure, and carrying out small repairs where possible. Flexible commitment due to independant work, at least once per month.
Social Media Volunteer
At Eastern Moors we don't have a visitor centre, café, or any other way to interact with our community face to face every day. Therefore, social media provides us an excellent opportunity to bring together and talk to our community. A dedicated social media volunteer would provide us with support in this area by helping us to create relevant and up to date content for our social media channels. This role requires a high level of commitment, around 5 hours per week of independant led work. Ideal for a student or graduate seeking industry relevant experience.
Family and Under 18s volunteering
We run family friendly Muck In Days year round, as well as our Junior Ranger (Under 18s) and Youth Ranger (11-18 years old) programs. Schools and community groups can get involved on the Eastern Moors with tasks such as tree planting and path resurfacing.
